Maggie Reunited

NOMAD

ADVENTURES

Having posted the website and letting a few good friends know of our plans we soon heard from the original pioneers, Richard and Jo Hepper, who purchased Maggie in 1997 and were the first to prepare her for her maiden expedition.

No sooner had we exchanged emails, we made plans to meet up on Saturday with the Richard & Jo.  Richard had jokingly remarked that he and Jo "would be delighted to see us" however there was one condition "just as long as you bring Maggie."  They had been worried that Maggie may be rusting away somewhere, so were delighted to see her again to rekindle fond memories of their adventure nearly 9 years ago (and of course to make sure she was being well looked after).

The moment was full of emotion and excitement which brought back so many good memories of their time with her.  Jo explained how Richard spent many a night and day preparing Maggie for their trip and to live up to previous precedents set, Richard did a close inspection of Maggie and was proud to see much of his handy work was still in place even after her transformation from a 90 to a 110.

The photo albums were dug out to give us a glimpse of what lay ahead and they also shared their experiences which was most insightful and exciting.

Their two children James & Charlotte took to Maggie like a duck to water and soon James was comfortably behind the steering wheel – “like Father like son”.

It was a great time and we hope to be able to get together with not only Richard & Jo, but also Colin, Martin & Debbie, before we depart – the 4  “generations” of proud owners.
