Kissing Giraffes, resting on Lake Naivasha & Cycling in Hells Gate National Park

NOMAD

ADVENTURES

Whilst in Nairobi and before heading to Lake Naivasha we visited the giraffe centre. After so many sightings of these amazing animals in the national parks we had been to we had such a great time as we got to be up close by feeding and sharing a few kisses with some giraffe's.

We then left to spend a day and night at Lake Naivasha which is close to Hells Gate National Park where we would head to the following day. The lake, like Lake Baringo, is covered with lots of bird life and at sunset you see a large flock of pelicans flying onto the edge of the lake and heading into the reeds. That night as it was quite dark we decided to make some "light art" again. So standing in the dark with a torch in hand, drawing pictures we must have looked slightly crazy to others but we managed to get a few good pictures.

Up early the next day and into Hells Gate National Park. We hired some bicycles and decided we would cycle to the beginning of the walk to the hot springs known as "Hell". Once reaching the starting point for the walk it was a welcome break to be of the bike for a while, but as we were running out of time we only managed to walk for an hour or so in the gorge and did not reach Hell (phew!) before we had to walk back to get our bikes and head for the gate.
