Kiazer Chiefs say it best "I predict a riot"

NOMAD

ADVENTURES

We made it into Ghana after fleeing the rioters of Oughadaghou, Burkina Faso and had a pleasurable crossing as we had an English welcome into Ghana – finally we can have a coherent conversation!  As it was already late in the afternoon we headed for the first big town to spend the night.  We soon realised camping was not an option and had to spend it in a bit more luxury in a Guesthouse……sometimes you just have rough it a little hehe…..

We awoke early the next day as we were heading to the Mole National Park which for us was one of the big highlights for Ghana and something we were so looking forward too.  Once again we had to travel across corrugated dirt roads to get to the National Park but we knew it was all worth it…..what a huge disappointment. Having grown up and experienced the National Game Parks in South Africa we were surprised when we were greeted by staff that had no enthusiasm or excitement about the Mole National Park.  After spending approximately 45 minutes trying to book accommodation and find out how one is able to venture into the parks surroundings to view the animals, with no joy and non the wiser as none of the staff could answer any of our questions, we decided we would leave.  As soon as we confirmed that we would be on our way everyone jumped up now willing to help and give us all the information we wanted, but it was too little too late and we jumped back into Maggie and decided our game viewing would have to wait until we reached Southern Africa were we know we will have a wonderful experience.

So off we went back onto the frustrating dirt corrugations, only this time to be cursing the road as we had received no great reward as we had hoped and expected.  We decided we would head for Kumasi where we knew we could camp at the Presbyterian Guest House and head out the next day to view the metal, wood and leather artisans hard at work.  We were once again disappointed/frustrated as it was a Sunday and despite all the guidebooks saying that places where open all week, it appeared that nothing opened on a Sunday, the day of rest, as everyone went to Church.  So with nothing to do and little to see we would head off to the Kakum National Park, which is a must see for all those who visit Ghana.
